Synopsis[]
The Peaches go on the road and are forced to work together in a whole new way. Clance faces a new life, including a new job at the screw factory. Max finally gets the opportunity she’s been waiting for.
Plot Summary[]
The team is on the road again to go to another game. Some of the girls talk about Jo - debating if she’s gay or not. Carson and Greta kiss and Greta tells Carson some of her tricks. She explains that she needs to always be seen with a man on her arm to avoid any suspicions of her relationships with other women. She tells Carson that she will go back to her husband eventually, just like all of the other women.
Lupe starts to get jealous of Carson bonding more with Coach Dove. On one of the team road trips, Carson gives Dove some things she’s noticed about the opposing team. Dove still won’t put Lupe back in the game to pitch because he wants to protect her from burning out her arm.
Carson convinces management to change her room so that she can sleep with Greta. However, they end up staying in a convent instead of a motel to their surprise.
Max gets a job for Clance at work. Her boss quit so now there is an opening on the baseball team. She later finds out that Gary instead was given the spot on the team to pitch on Thursday. Upset, Max fights to get a tryout to pitch.
The Peaches win their game! Dove has a fight with Marshall in the dugout and leaves. After he leaves, Carson and Lupe manage the team together. That evening, they are playing their first night game against the Kenosha Comets.
Max bets two weeks’ worth of wages that she can outpitch any man on the team. She throws three pitches but one of them almost hits the batter’s head. The manager is not impressed but tells her she can keep her paychecks. Later on, Max overhears her parents talking about her Aunt Bertie. They worry that Max’s baseball obsession could lead to her being like her - a lesbian.
The Rockford Peaches find out the Comets haven’t lost a single night game. They realize that the team turns off the left-field lights when the opposing team is on the field, reducing their visibility. Near the end of the game, the Peaches get the ref to turn the light back on. Carson is furious that they cheated. She tells Lupe since they cheated, the Peaches are going to play dirty too and steal bases.
The Peaches all get into a fight against the Blue Sox. They find out that Dove was hired to work for the Baltimore Orioles and that he won’t be returning. Max sees everything from the stands and she goes to speak to Carson.
